floods as forecasters predict another downpour of heavy showers across the country today. The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has issued 14 flood alerts for the majority of the country over the course of Tuesday, August 18.
Only the north-east, Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland have been spared from the risk of flooding. Experts are warning of heavy and thundery showers over the course of the afternoon, which could see around 50mm of rain fall in just three hours in some parts of the country.
The adverse conditions could lead to significant travel disruption and there is a flood risk to properties. A yellow weather warning has also been issued for large parts of Scotland for rain between 1pm and 9pm on Tuesday.
