First picture of boy, 11, who drowned 'falling into water' as family pay tribute

The heartbroken family of an 11-year-old boy who drowned after getting into difficulty in water in a park have paid an emotional tribute to the “lovely young boy”.

The Scottish boy, named by family members and friends as Dean Irvine, died after getting into difficulty at a park in South Lanarkshire on Saturday night.

He is believed to have been playing with friends at Alexander Hamilton Memorial Park in Stonehouse, South Lanarkshire, when he fell into the water.

A huge search was launched after the alarm was raised around 4.30pm yesterday. Tragically he was pronounced dead at the scene.
