The Ramada Renaissance complex, a brutalist landmark at the end of Deansgate, has long been earmarked for redevelopment. As recently as 2017, plans were revealed to bulldoze the site and build a new 5* hotel, shops, flats and public square.
But they never got off the ground and Manchester Council has been looking for a developer to come up with a new proposal ever since.
