Fines for breaching Covid rules forcing people to self-isolate could be upped from £1,000 to £,5000, it has been reported. Government ministers are said to be discussing the proposed increase in a bid to try and 'improve compliance' and stop people flouting coronavirus rules.
The increase on first-offence breaches of the rules is said to be on the table for discussion, as well as repeated breaches being set as high as £10,000.
A government source reportedly said that the fines in this country were relatively low.
