FIFPro chief issues warning over coronavirus financial crisis facing football

Players’ union boss Bobby Barnes has warned the whole of football is counting on a solution for the financial crisis facing the game.

Barnes insisted it was a positive sign that all parties came together at the UEFA summit but admits football is in serious danger of collapsing unless they can finish the job.

FIFPro president Barnes, who represent players across Europe, said: “There are a lot of challenges ahead, not just in the UK but everywhere. “At FIFPro, we did a poll among our member associations and 65 per cent admitted clubs and players would be under major financial pressure if we cannot somehow resolve this very difficult situation.
