FIFA have decided clubs do not have to release players for international duty if there is a mandatory quarantine or self-isolation period in either the country where the match will be played or the player's club is based.
The ruling applies to Nations League matches in September and has been reached after consultation with UEFA. England are set to travel to Iceland for the first match of the new Nations League season on Saturday 5 September.
As there is a mandatory five-day period of self-isolation upon arrival in the country, Premier League sides could technically be allowed to withhold their players from travelling with the Three Lions squad.
