LOS ANGELES – Reciting the numbers of people affected by the coronavirus pandemic in the greater Los Angeles County region, Dr.
Barbara Ferrer, the county’s public health director was overcome with emotions breaking into tears as she discussed the mortality tally thus far during the daily press conference Wednesday. “Over 8,000 people who are beloved members of their families are not coming back and their deaths are an incalculable loss to their friends and family as well as to our community,” Ferrer said, struggling to regain her composure.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health confirmed 75 new deaths and 9,243 new cases of COVID-19. “This is the highest number of daily deaths since July 29,” Ferrer said.
