David de Gea has been labelled "weak" and lacking in confidence after his mistake cost Manchester United a fourth straight pre-season victory.

United were 2-1 up against Aston Villa in the final minute of a friendly in Perth on Saturday when Steven Gerrard's side earned a corner.

Leon Bailey, who had scored Villa’s second-half goal to cut the deficit, put in an inswinging and dipping ball into United’s six-yard box.Rather than come and claim the ball, or punch it away, De Gea, who earns £290,000 a week, remained rooted to the spot.

Villa substitute Cameron Archer stood his ground in front of the United goalkeeper, who failed to get anywhere near the ball in a packed box.READ MORE: Man Utd bosses 'privately accept' Cristiano Ronaldo's future despite Erik ten Hag stanceCalum Chambers was the beneficiary, nodding into an unguarded net to make it 2-2 and ensure United had thrown away a two-goal lead.
