A fire that ripped through a bedroom in a family home is under investigation by firefighters. A family returned to their home in Ripley Street, just off Tonge Moor Road in Bolton, to find their smoke alarms sounding and a fire raging inside their home.
Firefighters rushed to the scene at around 1.25pm on Monday afternoon and managed to contain the fire to the bedroom, where it is believed the blaze began.
The 13 firefighters from Bolton Central and Bolton North fire stations were at the scene until around 3.15pm. There were no people injured or taken to hospital, but the family will have to be temporarily re-homed as the clean up operation begins, say firefighters.
