Ex EastEnders star 'felt suicidal' after 'sexist' bosses axed her character

Former EastEnders actress Carol Harrison claims she had "suicidal thoughts" after suffering a breakdown due to bosses at the BBC soap being what she describes as "ageist" and "misogynistic".

The 65-year-old played Tiffany Mitchell's mum Louise Raymond on EastEnders between 1998 and 1999, until she was written out after Tiffany's death.

Now, following June Brown's exit as Dot Cotton, Carol has spoken out against the BBC soap and claimed she was left feeling suicidal due to the way she was treated.

The British star said: "I was told, 'We don’t care about women over 40. They are not our audience. There is no interest in them.' "It left me shocked at how ageist and misogynistic they were.
