Casting directors are snubbing British performers in favour of European rivals, an industry insider has revealed. A talent agency boss received an email asking for clients to work on a project abroad, stressing: “FOR THESE CONTRACTS YOUR CLIENT MUST HAVE AN EU PASSPORT (UK PASSPORT NOT INCLUDED) OR HAVE RESIDENCY IN SPAIN OR GREECE.” A message from Spotlight, a platform used by casting directors and which styles itself as “the home of casting”, looked to fill singing roles for a musical stage residency at two TUI Sensatori holiday resorts – and needed people who could work in Ibiza and Crete.
