England's seven worst Covid hotspots have seen a week-on-week jump in cases, worrying figures show. But latest data reveals that the number of towns and cities recording rising infections has fallen since Monday.
Earlier today Public Health England announced a 15 per cent rise in cases of the Indian variant, which experts fear could scupper next month's planned unlocking of the country.
Bolton, Blackburn, Bedford, Kirklees, Burnley, Hounslow and Leicester - the areas with the highest case rates in the country - all saw more people testing positive in the week to Sunday than the previous seven days.
