The kidding-not-kidding prediction that divorce will go through the roof turns out to be unfounded; and some couples are even choosing to cement their relationship with a lockdown proposal. “We’re doing a lot of engagement rings at the moment - I’d say around 85 per cent of our bespoke work currently is engagement rings; usually it’s around 60 per cent,” says Shaun Leane, the London-based jeweller who made Princess Beatrice’s diamond ring.
