Emmerdale cancelled tonight as new coronavirus soap schedule is rolled out on ITV

ITV's new soap schedule has begun to roll out this week and fans will be heartbroken to hear that that means no Emmerdale tonight.

The channel decided to stop production on soaps following government advice relating to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, soap bosses reduced the number of episodes shown each week in a bid to keep them on air for as long as possible.

Both Emmerdale and Coronation Street are only airing three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday at 7pm and 7.30pm, respectively.

The new schedule will only last for a few months if filming doesn't restart. An ITV statement read: "The two biggest soaps on TV, Coronation Street and Emmerdale, will continue to run through the Spring and into the early Summer." They
