Emmerdale actor Jeff Hordley has admitted feeling “saddened” at his co-star's exit from the soap.Jeff, 52, is best known as the Dales character Cain Dingle on the hit ITV show, with the character currently enduring a difficult time after his mum Faith Dingle was diagnosed with terminal cancer.Faith initially kept her tragic diagnosis a secret from the family, but later told her children leaving them devastated.READ NEXT: Emmerdale backstage secrets - Plastic food, real graves, tributes and spelling errors Emmerdale bosses have now confirmed that the storyline will see actress Sally Dexter depart the show in special 50th anniversary episodes with Cain playing a key role in the plot.

Executive producer Jane Hudson told the Liverpool Echo: “At the start of the month, we will be focusing on our Faith storyline, which is a huge storyline for us at the moment.”Jeff then followed by admitting his devastation at the departure.

He said: “My character is involved in the Faith storyline. I'm personally saddened at losing the brilliant Sally Dexter, but it will give us some great stories going forward.“I look forward to doing that and that is as much as I know.”Meanwhile, Sally has confessed she has found the storyline "tough" to film, but the cast and crew have been really supportive.Talking to TV times she said: “I think it is excellent.

I haven't read the scripts for her death, but I'm hoping it's as positive as it can be. This isn't just a story about a cancer; it's a wider story about family.“That great thing about death is the thing that happens before it, that thing called life, and all the love that goes with it.
