EASTENDERS fans in the US have been left hanging after the BBC pulled 13 years’ worth of episodes. Albert Square lovers in the States are watching shows from 2009 — a time lag built up because they are screened only once a week rather than four times a week in the UK.
The Beeb says it is “no longer able” to provide the later episodes of the 36-year-old soap which is shown on public broadcaster PBS.
It means US fans will miss seeing Phil Mitchell turn into a crack addict, The Queen Vic burn down or Danny Dyer join as Mick Carter.
At the moment, they are waiting to see if the late Barbara Windsor’s Peggy Mitchell will win the Walford council election campaign.
