DWP announces Cold Weather Payments for another 160 postcode areas in England - full list

Reading now: 216

The Department for Work and Pensions has confirmed that 160 more postcode areas are now eligible for Cold Weather Payments. The one-off £25 payments are made every time the temperature is forecast to be, or recorded as, 0C or below for seven consecutive days.

Eligible households are those on certain benefits, such as Universal Credit, Income Support and Pension Credit. On Wednesday, January 15, the DWP confirmed payments for more than 500 new postcode areas, and today, January 16, the department has confirmed a further 160 areas will be getting payments too.

Included in the latest batch of postcodes are 11 areas of Cumbria, which will be getting their third payment of the season. The one-off payments are triggered each time the threshold is met from November to March, which means some areas where cold snaps are more regular are paid multiple times.

The 11 areas of Cumbria now due their third £25 payment include Kendal, Keswick and Windermere. The first payments in these areas were triggered back in November, before the threshold was reached a second time at the beginning of January.
