The first named storm is expected to hit the UK later this week, with heavy winds, rain and even snow expected to batter the country.
Storm Éowyn is expected is set to bring 90mph wind gusts to UK and the Met Office said it could bring the "strongest winds of the winter so far" and some "potentially disruptive weather" with "severe gales" in the west of the UK.
Met Office deputy chief meteorologist Chris Almond said "Winds will begin to strengthen on Thursday night with the peak gusts forecast through Friday in Northern Ireland and western Scotland.
The wind will also be accompanied by heavy rain bringing some unpleasant conditions to end the week." The Met Office has upgraded a wind alert to amber level for parts of the UK including Greater Manchester ahead of Storm Éowyn.
