Amid Storm Eowyn chaos, the Met Office has issued two snow and ice warnings in place over the weekend. Winds of up to 100mph are currently battering the country, with the worst hit areas being Northern Ireland and Scotland where schools and roads have been closed and flights have been cancelled and delayed.

There are currently two rare red warnings for wind in place in Scotland and Northern Ireland, with strict do not travel warnings being issued to people in these high risk locations.

Most of the dangerous weather will take place on Friday, however there are five weather warnings in place on Saturday, 25 Jan, including amber and yellow wind warnings in Scotland, two yellow snow and ice warnings in Scotland and Northern Ireland, plus an ice warning in the south of England.

The Met Office categorises its weather warnings depending on the severity of the conditions. With a yellow weather warning, it is likely that the weather will cause some low level impacts, including some disruption to travel in a few places.
