The freezing start to 2025 saw temperatures plummet to nearly -20C in parts of the UK. As a result, Cold Weather Payments have now been triggered across large parts of the country.

The £25 bonus aims to help people pay for heating and it is paid out when temperatures drop below 0C in an area for a period of seven consecutive days.
The list of benefits which receive the payments include Pension Credit, Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Universal Credit and Support for Mortgage Interest.
