Dumfries and Galloway Council to introduce food waste recycling in five towns

place. “Please note that this may be different from your usual bin collection day,” Mr McLeod advised.The council will be providing a food waste recycling service to properties with shared or communal bins following the initial rollout to individual dwellings.Mr McLeod added: “ Please use this new service to recycle all your food waste instead of placing it in your non-recyclable waste bin.“Using this service means food waste can be turned into valuable resources such as agricultural fertilisers and energy.“This will allow Dumfries and Galloway to help meet Scotland’s ambitious target of recycling 70 per cent of waste by 2025, as well as supporting the council’s mission to achieve net zero carbon status by 2025.“Everyone has food waste.
