manchestereveningnews.co.ukdirect to your inboxPolice have urged motorists to abide by road closures after a vehicle appeared to drive around cones only to be become stranded in floodwater.Greater Manchester Police posted a picture of what appeared to be a vehicle stranded in floodwater on the B5158 'Mile Road' between Carrington and Flixton on Thursday morning.The image showed what appeared to be two figures who emerged from the vehicle wading through the water.The road was closed because of floodwater overtopping the nearby River Mersey as the region struggles with the aftermath of Storm Christoph.The closure forced motorists to take a longer route via the M60 to travel between Carrington and Flixton.But at least one driver tried their luck on the B5158, known.
