Salford are likely to be without power and a major road could remain closed overnight after a fire at an electrical substation.It's understood an oil drum that's at risk of overheating was found close to the blaze off Bury New Road in Broughton.More than 1,600 properties were left without power when the fire broke out at 4.45pm today (Tuesday).Bury New Road was also closed as firefighters battled the blaze.The fire has now been extinguished and all but 163 properties have had power reconnected.But because electricity engineers cannot reconnect the supply until the oil drum is safe, and because the road will have to be dug up to allow the reconnection to take place, it means both the road closure and the power cut are likely to remain.
