A distressed 11-year-old is heard crying in a 999 call as she tries to cover up the reason she tried to phone the police numerous times earlier.
Later on after someone else from the household phones the emergency operator, it emerges that the girl's mum stabbed his dad in front of him.
The police are reviewing an abandoned 999 call, which features shouting in the background, when they ring the number back. In tonight's Police: Hour of Duty, a young tearful girl is heard answering the call as he tells them that she didn't mean to phone them.
However the operator is keen to keep her on the line as she senses something is wrong. She probes the girl: "Is everything alright there?" "Yes, it's ok," she replies.
