Disney is turning one of Broadway’s biggest musicals into a movie! It has been announced that Disney has closed a deal to turn The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee into a live-action movie musical, The Hollywood Reporter confirms. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who produced Disney’s live-action Aladdin, remake will be producing the upcoming film adaption.
If you don’t know, Spelling Bee is a musical comedy that follows several quirky students – Olive Ostrovsky, William Barfée, Logainne “Schwarzy” SchwartzandGrubenierre, Marcy Park, Leaf Coneybear, and Charlito “Chip” Tolentino – who are competing to win their county’s spelling bee.
