David Luiz took a "significant" pay cut to stay at Arsenal which allowed the Gunners to also extend Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares' deals.
Brazilian Luiz signed a new one year contract at the Emirates, which coincided with fellow defenders Mari and Cedric dotting the 'i's on their own fresh agreements.
But according to the Telegraph, the latter two long term deals were only able to be completed because the former Chelsea star agreed to lower his wages.
It had been suggested that Luiz had played his last match for the Gunners following a horror showing against Manchester City recently, but his selfless gesture will keep him at the club for a second campaign.
