Dan Walker makes kids sign contracts before being allowed mobile phones

Dan Walker has opened up about how “strict” he and his wife are about their children’s mobile phone usage. The former BBC Breakfast presenter said that his three kids have their own devices - but with stringent conditions.

All three have to sign a contract after sitting down and discussing responsible usage and “the things we expect from them in terms of what they do with it and how they use it”.READ NEXT: Dan Walker discovered BBC were removing him from Football Focus 'through rumours'The contract allows both Dan and his wife Sarah to regularly check the kids’ phones.

Dan is dad to Susanna, 15, Jessica, 13, and 11-year-old Joe. Among the other rules are no phones in bedrooms at night and limited access to social media apps.

Dan, 45, told The Times: “I routinely have a look at the children’s phones. Personally, my wife and I try to be really open with our kids.”They are not allowed to have age-restricted apps such as Instagram, either, and if they breach their contract, the phones are removed.
