Cristiano Ronaldo famously impressed Man Utd so much in a friendly game in 2003 that the Premier League giants snapped him up, but he also left his mark on one soon-to-be team-mate.

The Red Devils had travelled to Portugal to help Sporting Lisbon officially open their new Estadio Jose Alvalade home and came up against a then 18-year-old Ronaldo.

The Primera Liga outfit recorded a 3-1 victory over Utd and Ronaldo more than impressed, with Sir Alex Ferguson later agreeing to sign the youngster for £12.25m.

Several Red Devils stars, including Rio Ferdinand, had urged the Old Trafford side to move quickly after coming up against Ronaldo, believing him to be the next big star.
