Network Rail has announced plans to build an extension at Ayr Train Station.Ayrshire Live can reveal how the operator wants to build an extension to the railway station building to form a covered walkway and ticket office, public facilities unit and “associated ancillary works.”Agents in the planning application are IDP Architects, who are representing Network Rail in the proposals.The plan is to build a portal frame structure to form a covered walkway and erect modular units to house new ticket office and staff facilities.Network Rail’s planning proposal was submitted on September 12, prior to Monday night’s fire at the nearby Station Hotel.The plans, if approved, would see the new structure in place adjacent to the station’s Platform 1.The proposals are listed as ‘pending consideration’ on South Ayrshire Council’s online planning portal.
