Coronavirus 'R rate' rising in north sparking fears virus could spread rapidly

According to The Manchester Evening News, the latest analysis from Public Health England and Cambridge University scientists showed the North West was now running at 1.01.

This is up from 0.73 a few weeks ago when the data was last released and higher than anywhere else in England. Not far behind is the South West, which is listed at exactly 1, although researchers believe the number of new daily infections there is “relatively low” by comparison.It is then followed by the South East on 0.97, London on 0.95 – a huge.
