Desperate McDonald's fans were caught on video waiting in queues stretching all the way back to a roundabout after the burger chain announced it would be closing its doors for the foreseeable future.

The coronavirus outbreak initially saw the fast-food giant keep its drive-thru takeaway service, but it made the bombshell announcement that it would shut all its 1,350 restaurants yesterday.

It is now no longer possible to order a Mcdonald's takeaway, even on Uber Eats app. Last orders were set for 7pm – which saw a mad dash of Brits rush to the drive-thrus in a panic to get their very last Big Mac and Happy Meals of the COVID-19 pandemic.
