Coronavirus deaths in South Lanarkshire remained static last week.Two weeks after recording the highest number of coronavirus deaths in Scotland, South Lanarkshire recorded five deaths for the second week running – the third largest in the country.Figures released by the National Records of Scotland today (Wednesday, June 24) revealed that last week saw the joint-lowest number of Covid-19 related deaths since the first three deaths were recorded in the area in the week ending March 29.Only Glasgow (nine) and Edinburgh (six) recorded a higher number of Covid-19 related deaths than South Lanarkshire last week.Deaths in care homes increased by one to three last week while the other two occurred in the region’s hospitals.That brings the total.
