Allergy medication used to deal with the symptoms of hayfever and asthma could make it harder for sufferers to battle coronavirus.
Dr Daniel Griffin, a virologist at Columbia University in New York, explained that the steroids in the medication used to treat to two conditions could lead to a slower response to counter-attacking against the virus.
In turn, this would mean it would have stronger advantage to develop. Speaking on the podcast This Week in Virology Dr Griffin explained that after a person inhales a droplet carrying Covid-19, the virus uses spikey proteins to latch onto a cell and it begins to replicate itself.
