Dade Hayes Finance EditorJust in time for the Chicago Cubs’ regular season opener, Comcast and Sinclair Broadcast Group renewed their carriage agreement, which includes the Cubs’ new TV home, Marquee Sports Network.The multi-year deal covers retransmission consent of 78 Sinclair TV stations in 51 markets across Comcast’s cable footprint.
Also in the mix are continued distribution of the Tennis Channel, 18 Fox-branded regional sports networks, and YES Network for Xfinity TV customers.Xfinity homes in the Chicago area will also get Marquee, the RSN venture between Sinclair and the Cubs.
Distribution for the new network had been uncertain even before the coronavirus hit. Sinclair led a group that bought the former Fox RSNs, which were unloaded.
