Talks about whether to tear up the Christmas rules due to rising infection rates have broken up without agreement. Michael Gove spoke to leaders from the devolved administrations on Tuesday amid mounting pressure on the Government for a rethink of the five-day festive relaxation of restrictions.
The talks will resume on Wednesday "to confirm the position", according to the Welsh Government. A number of options are on the table for ministers, including tougher messaging and telling people to self-isolate before seeing loved ones.
The Government could also slash the number of days the rules are relaxed for from five to three, or reduce the number of households that are allowed to mix from three to two.
