Prestwick gets into the festive mood next weekend (November 25 and 26) with a two day Prestmas special.Celebrations begin on Saturday and culminate with the switching on of the town’s Christmas lights on Sunday at 5.15pm.There will be a marketplace with stalls set up in Boydfield Gardens on both days running from 12.30pm to 5.30pm.The main stage will be set up at Prestwick Cross with school choirs and local bands Memphis and Earthbound among those performing on Sunday.Prestwick’s own Jeremy Levif, a finalist in the TV competition The Voice, is also set to entertain the crowds.Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra will provide musical entertainment in St Nicholas Church from 2.45pm to 3.30pm.
The church sanctuary will be open from 2pm to 4.30pm for refreshments and craft activities for children.Children will love Santa’s Grotto which will be hosted by the Rotary Club of Prestwick in Boydfield Gardens.
Santa will be assisted by hard working Rotary elves.Santa’s Super Sleigh will leave Bellevue Road by a fire engine on Sunday at 5pm and head along the Main Street.
The lights will be switched on 15 minutes later by the winner of a primary school Christmas poster competition. Station Road will be closed to traffic from 7am until 7pm on Sunday.
