As Christmas fast-approaches and more people start lighting up their living spaces and gardens to give their home a festive feel, consumer champion Martin Lewis has answered the burning question most of us have been too afraid to ask - how much it actually costs to keep the lights on.
During this week’s Martin Lewis Money Show Live the financial guru shared a quick rule of thumb for calculating how much it costs to run your Christmas lights, whether that’s on the tree, round the door or along the bannister.
And it might be time to change those lights, when you realise the difference between the two most popular types on the market.
Martin explained to viewers that LED lights are the cheapest to run, whether that’s on their own illuminating the Christmas tree or part of an outdoor display while incandescent lights cost a bit more - measured over the same period of time.
