Thousands of older people living in Scotland are being urged to contact a dedicated national advice service to get help claiming Pension Credit from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
Advice Direct Scotland is urging pensioners across the country not to miss out on the £3,900 annual income boost and additional cost of living payments worth £599.
The UK Government has said new applications for Pension Credit made before phone lines close on Friday, December 8 or online at GOV.UK before midnight on Sunday, December 10, which later turns out to be successful, will also be eligible for the £300 cost of living payment.
This is because Pension Credit is a retrospective benefit that can be claimed up to three months historically, taking it to within the qualifying period (August 18-September 17).
