Chelsea have been warned Bayer Leverkusen will drive a hard bargain for Kai Havertz. Attacking midfielder Havertz is known to be a key target for Frank Lampard, who has jumped at the opportunity to add to his squad following last summer’s transfer ban.
The Blues have reportedly been trying to negotiate Leverkusen’s £90million asking price for Havertz down towards £70million – but the Germans insist they won’t budge.
Leverkusen’s sporting director Rudi Voller has made it clear that the Bundesliga side would rather keep their 21-year-old talent for another season than cut their valuation.
And Voller confirmed that there was no chance Leverkusen would sell Havertz before the end of their involvement in the postponed Europa League knockout
