Chelsea may be forced to keep midfielder Ross Barkley as a loan deal to Burnley is now ‘not happening’.The Englishman is back on the books at Stamford Bridge, having spent last season on loan at Aston Villa.

He has not made an appearance for the Blues this season yet, though - and manager Thomas Tuchel even decided to take his No.8.

It saw speculation rumble throughout the window that Barkley would head out but the hours were getting shorter on Transfer Deadline Day.

It was believed a way out for the 27-year-old could be found, though, as The Express have reported that Burnley were considering a late loan move.
