Casualty rocked by gun death as icon Charlie makes dramatic return

dailystar.co.ukThis week's episode of BBC drama Casualty saw long-running character Charlie Fairhead (Derek Thompson) decide to take his job back after quitting in the previous episode – though it wasn't a straight-forward decision.
In a rage, he returned to the hospital after quitting and bumped into a distressed dad, Mick Baxter (Owen Whitelaw), who had shot a social worker and caused his son to run off, falling from a roof and seriously injuring himself.
His son was inside, as was the social worker, and, not knowing what was going on, Charlie told him he should go in and see his son.
Once inside, Charlie made a show of things and accidentally spurred Mick into taking Connie Beauchamp (Amanda Mealing) and a load of other staff members hostage.
