Carol Smillie has opened up about the outrageous behind-the-scenes antics on Changing Rooms. From chocolate condoms and kinky outfits to dog poo and smashed antique teapots, the cast and crew found numerous shocking items that couldn't be shown on the television show.
The show was a huge hit on the BBC, running from 1996 to 2004. Now that the home makeover show is set for a comeback on Channel 4, host Carol, who worked alongside flamboyant designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, looked back on some of the biggest horrors they encountered while doing up other people's homes.
The premise of the show saw two friends redecorate a room in each other's home, under the guidance of interior designers, with a budget of just £500 and two days to do it.
