Caitlyn Marie Jenner (born William Bruce Jenner; October 28, 1949) is an American television personality and retired Olympic gold medal–winning decathlete.
Jenner played college football for the Graceland Yellowjackets before incurring a knee injury that required surgery. Convinced by Olympic decathlete Jack Parker's coach, L. D. Weldon, to try the decathlon, Jenner won the men's decathlon event at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, setting a third successive world record and gaining fame as "an all-American hero".
Given the unofficial title of "world's greatest athlete", Jenner established a career in television, film, writing, auto racing, business, and as a Playgirl cover model.
Former Olympic decathlete and reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner is to run for governor of California. The former Keeping up with the Kardashian star, who is transgender, announced her plans this afternoon tweeting: “I’m in”.
Jenner, a Republican, is hoping to unseat Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom, who faces an all but certain election battle later this year.
The Olympic gold medal-winning decathlete turned transgender rights activist, had been mulling a bid. She has put together a team of prominent Republican team to advise the campaign, including 2016 and 2020 Trump presidential campaign members.
They include Steven Cheung, who also worked in Arnold Schwarzenegger's successful 2003 Governor election victory in California.
