Brits are facing delays of up to four months for new passports. The Passport Office warned millions of Brit holidaymakers last month that passport applications are taking longer because of the coronavirus pandemic and changed working practices.

The premium fast-track service and face-to-face interviews required for first passports have been suspended because of the pandemic.

As a result, the Passport Office advised Brits to only apply if they are travelling before September or need one for compassionate reasons.

Wait-time is averaging 45 days for a first adult passport, 33 days for a first child's passport, 28 days for a child's renewal and 23 days for an adult’s renewal, according to Passport Waiting Time, a website using crowd-sourced
