I must have been about four years old. I remember sitting under the desk in the hall of our house and they were just going at each other hammer and tongs.
They separated about a year later. We’re a Scottish family – ‘ginger jocks’ – so there was always a lot of shouting going on.
I’m lucky. I married a good West London girl (actress and producer Elly Fairman), so the fiery-ness has been diluted. The biggest influence on me has to be my mum. She was a single parent to my older brother and me.
