A cyclist has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a tram in Wythenshawe on Thursday afternoon (August 17). A huge emergency services presence, including police, paramedics and incident response units attended the major scene at the Robinswood Road Metrolink stop, on Simonsway, at around 2.20pm.

Tram services were immediately halted as an air ambulance landed in the area after a man, aged in his 50s, was rushed to hospital with a head injury from the scene. Further details about the condition of the cyclist have not yet been confirmed. Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) said that following the collision, the Manchester Airport line was suspended with services running between Manchester Victoria and Wythenshawe Town Centre.

The North West Ambulance Service confirmed paramedics were called out to reports of a collision between a cyclist, a man in his 50s, and a tram before he was rushed to hospital from the scene.
