A Jet2 flight to Majorca suddenly diverted and returned back to Manchester Airport just an hour after taking off on Sunday morning (September 3).
The LS831 flight to Palma was delayed and eventually departed from Terminal 2 at around 7.54am, but was forced to divert over Stoke-on-Trent and land back at Manchester again shortly after 9.30am.
Jet2 said the flight was diverted due to 'unforeseen operational reasons' and that the airline was 'doing everything they can' to minimise disruption to passengers. The flight path according to FlightRadar shows how the plane, which was heading south towards the Spanish island, turned over Stoke-on-Trent at 10,000 feet before looping over the Peak District and then returning to Manchester.
Further details about the 'operational' issues have not been disclosed by the airline however it is understood a second flight then departed from Manchester shortly after 10am.
