Rapper Braxton "Brax" Baker has died aged 21. Her mother Letricia Loftin Russell shared her outpouring of grief on social media on Thursday.

The rapper rocketed to fame on social media platforms for her 2017 mixtape VERSE(atility). Her cause of death has yet to be made public.

Grieving mother Letricia described her daughter as an "angel" who had "ascended" to heaven in an Instagram post. In full, her mother wrote: "Our Angel Has Ascended.

Our angel, Braxton Blue.B Baker has ascended. "At the time of her ascendance she laid in sacred form. There were no scratches there were no bruises, her internal and external being was completely pure.
