Boy, 8, fighting for life after being hit by car in residential area as man arrested

An eight-year-old boy is fighting for his life after being hit by a car in a residential street. Police were called to Ryecroft Road in Ashton-Under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, last night with the area cordoned off as the youngster was taken to hospital.

One man has been arrested, police confirmed today. A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said the boy remains in hospital in a life-threatening condition.

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. A number of police cars were pictured at the scene along with an air ambulance, report the, Manchester Evening News.
