His tough battle with COVID-19 left him in a coma and has "attacked everything", leaving him with clots in his lungs, holes in his heart and made him diabetic.
Kate promised an update on his condition on Tuesday morning after she had seen him and spoken to the medical professionals who are taking care of him during his slow recovery process. "I am hoping to see Derek after the show today so I will give you updates on him tomorrow," she said, winking at the camera.
